Speed tests measure the speed between your computer and the internet.
They can be a helpful tool, but
please remember there are a variety of factors that can affect the results of the test.
The speeds you achieve will be impacted by the capabilities of your devices, operating system, browser,
Please follow these steps for best results on a speed test:
1. Connect your device directly into your service provider's broadband internet jack or to your router.
2. Speed tests can be run without directly connecting; however wireless speeds are slower than direct connection speeds.
3. Limit the number of devices and applications using the internet connection.
4. Disconnect from any virtual private networks.
General industry standards set acceptable speed test results at 80% of allotted bandwidth.
If the results of the speed test are within 80% of your internet package speed but you want better performance, please contact your internet service provider's customer service representative to learn about upgrading your internet service.
If the results of the speed test is less than 80% of the speed of your internet package, please contact your internet service provider to speak with a technical support technician.
